Portfolio

Kimble Bromley's paintings portray landscapes, ponds, gardens, the city of Chicago, and billboards, using vibrant colors and dynamic brushstrokes to capture the essence of each scene. His work reflects a deep appreciation for both natural beauty and urban culture.

Monet's Garden & My Pond

These paintings are of Monet's pond in Giverny, France. I traveled to France to study Monet's paintings and visit his gardens. While there I photographed different motifs and have been painting them since 2021.

Paintings of my pond were done on location out my back door.

Back to the Pond

My work responds to the changing colors, light, and textures of this unique environment, using oil and acrylics to capture its essence. Rather than duplicating the landscape, I create lush, colorful pieces that celebrate color, light, and the beauty of place and life.

Chicago Series

In 1986-87, I created a series inspired by Chicago, focusing on the “L” train platforms and graffiti. Captivated by the sense of deep space along the tracks and the flatness of surrounding buildings, I photographed the city to inform my paintings. This series explores urban life, questions the nature of graffiti as art, and reflects my experience of Chicago.

Billboard Paintings

This series uses discarded and unused billboard materials to create visually impactful works that go beyond illustration. Inspired by their design and societal influence, these paintings explore the essence of billboards, commenting on their role in shaping perception and life.

The Rack

The Rack is a series of 16 paintings, each representing a billiard ball, including the cue ball. Inspired by pool, art history, and symbolism, each piece reflects the ball's unique color, number, and meaning. The series blends fine art with the game’s essence, celebrating creativity and design.
